Ask the Brain
I imagined Ask the Brain in October 2025; Commune shipped instead as a static site on Cloudflare and a package on npm, with no home box required.
I wanted to ask “How do I think about automation?” and get an answer linked to the exact notes where I’d written about it. The rule I imagined was simple: if it couldn’t cite a note, it wouldn’t answer.
That depended on Atomic Notes with clear claims. AI shapes voice dumps into atomic notes was supposed to make the source material easier to search and cite.
I pictured private questions running on The Commune box. Keeping sensitive questions on that server was part of the proposal, not a verified privacy guarantee. This note records the earlier idea; it doesn’t describe a shipped question-answering feature.
